Constituency : Rochester  1857-70

John  was    educated  at  Eton  and  Cambridge  and  became  a  barrister. In  1844  he  published  Eothen  an  account  of  his  travels  in  the  Levant  which  sold  well. He  was  on  the  western  circuit  and  stood  unsuccessfully  for  Wells  in  1852  and  1855.

He  died  in  1870 aged  68.
