A bit of research for the 1906 election immediately throws up another mistake.
John took Inverness-shire from the Tories at the 1906 election. He had estates in Perthshire.
John was the chairman of the family distilling firm.
John was created a baronet in 1907.
In 1912, John chaired the Dewar Commission on healthcare in the North of Scotland.
In 1917 John was elevated to the peerage as Baron Forteviot.
He died in 1929 aged 73.
