Constituency : Spen Valley 1940-45 ( Liberal National )
William succeeded John Simon when the latter became Lord Chancellor. He was unopposed due to the wartime truce.
In 1945 William was soundly defeated in a straight fight with Labour.
He died in 1989 aged 88.
