Constituency : Cockermouth 1879-80
William took over after the suicide of his older brother Isaac. He won the by-election by around 200 votes.
As noted previously the Fletchers were colliery owners. William was a Quaker.
William never spoke in the Commons.
He died in 1900 aged 69.
