111 Henry Fenwick
Constituency : Sunderland 1855-66
Henry's political career was dominated by by-elections. He first tried to enter Parliament at an 1852 by-election for the City of Durham then came in for Sunderland in 1855.
Henry was a Free Trader being particularly concerned to abolish timber duties to aid the Sunderland shipbuilding industry.
In 1866 Henry was appointed a Civil Lord of the Admiralty by Russell but lost the resulting by-election to another Liberal.
Henry may well have returned to the Commons in due course but he died before the 1868 election at the age of 48.
