Sir  John  was  a  baronet, the  10th  in  his  line.

Sir  John was  a  Lieutenant - Colonel  in  the  Waterford  Artillery  Militia  and  a  local  JP. He  became  a  Whip  at  the  end  of  Gladstone's  first  ministry.

He  died  in  1876  aged  50
