1531 Henry Watt

Constituency : Glasgow  College  1906-18

Henry  took  Glasgow  College  from  the  Tories.

Henry  supported  Scottish  home  rule . In  1911  he  made  the  observation "There  are  sixteen  departments over  which  the  Secretary  for  Scotland  is  chief, and  in  discussing  his  salary  we  are not  permitted to  touch  any  of  these  sixteen  deppartments".

When  the  Glasgow  seats  were  re-jigged  in  1918,  Henry  stood  for  Glasgow  Maryhill  but  came  a  distant  third.

He  died  in  1929  aged  66. His  son  Henry  was  a  noted  director  of  film  documentaries.
