David  evicted  the  Liberal  Unionist  John  Stroyan.

David  was  educated  at  Harrow  and  in  Europe. He  acted  as  Secretary  to  the  Governor-General  of  Canada  from  1897  to  1898.

David  was  Parliamentary  Secretary  to  the  Scottish  Secretary  John  Sinclair  theroughout  his  time  in  Parliament. He  also  chaired  the  Board  of  Trustees  for  the  National  Galleries  of  Scotland   from  1908  until  his  death.

David  made  few  contributions  to  Parliament.

David  stood  down  in  January  1910.

David  was  included  in  Keynes' s  list  of  sexual  encounters.

He  died  in  1922  aged  55.
