Thomas took West Renfrewshire which had been Tory since its creation in 1885.
Thomas was a director of a thread-making firm. He was active in the Volunteers.He was created a baronet in 1894. He was narrowly defeated in 1900. He was a Baptist.
Sir Thomas made little contribution in Parliament.
Thomas stood down in January 1910.
He died in 1922 aged 76. His son was an Olympic sailor.
