2330 Tessa Munt

Tessa took the long time target seat of Wells after the Tory incumbent was damaged by the expenses scandal. She was the only female among the new intake.
Tessa was born in Surrey. She was educated at Sutton High School. She had a varied career taking in banking, legal work, teaching , social work and administration. She was initially a Labour member but switched to the Liberal Democrats in 1999. She stood for South Suffolk in 2001, coming third with 25% of the vote. Later that year she stood in the Ipswich by-election improving the party's share of the vote but remaining in third place. She stood in Wells in 2005 but failed to make further inroads into the Tory majority.
Tessa was a whip from 2010 to 2012 then became PPS to Vince Cable. She resigned in 2015 in opposition to fracking. She is a member of C.N.D. and opposed the renewal of Trident. She was embroiled in a dispute with her local council over a council tax rebate after former DJ Andy Kershaw registered at her house to vote but won her case. In 2014 she revealed that she had been a victim of child abuse.
Tessa was defeated in 2015. She stood again in 2017 , reducing the Tory majority by a grand total of 3 votes. She was however elected a councillor that year taking out the Tory leader. She has been re-selected as PPC for Wells once more.
She is now 59.
