2317 Julia Goldsworthy
Constituency : Falmouth and Camborne 2005-10
Julia took Falmouth and Camborne from Labour, starting from third place and making it a clean sweep of the Cornish constituencies for the Liberal Democrats .
Julia was born in Camborne. She was educated at Truro School and Cambridge and spent a postgraduate year at Daiichi University, Japan. She started work as an economics researcher for Matthew Taylor then became a regeneration officer for Carrick District Council. She stood unsuccessfully to be a councillor in Lambeth.
Julia became a health spokesman. In 2006 she was promoted to shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury. She took part in Channel Four's reality show The Games coming second and raising £20,000 for Cornish Air Ambulance. At one point, a helicopter was laid on to fly her to the Commons for a budget debate. In 2007 she was moved to shadow Communities and Local Government.
Julia was regarded as a rising star but was undone by the expenses scandal after buying items including a designer rocking chair from upmarket furniture stores to furnish her London flat although she only claimed part of the cost.
In 2010, Julia stood for the new constituency of Camborne and Redruth but was defeated by 66 votes. She was subsequently appointed a special adviser to Danny Alexander.
In 2015, Julia contested the seat again but came fourth. She is currently Director of Strategy for the West Midlands Combined Authority.
Julia is an accomplished gig rower.
She is now 40.
