Constituency : Durham  North  1880-81

John  took  the  second  seat  at  North  Durham  from  the  Tories.

John  was  a  coal  owner  in  business  with  his  brother. He  had  started  out  taking  medical  training  but  soon  switched  to  mining  engineering.

John  never  spoke  in  Parliament.

He  died  in  1881  aged 64.
