Thomas  was  the  son  of  a  textile  and  property  magnate  who  lived  at  Tolmers  Park , Hertfordshire.

In  1860  Thomas  leased  the  house  to  his  fellow  MP  Thomas  Bazley.

He  died  in  1862.
